Mortgage Deduction Law Valid.
The Supreme Court handed down its decision Friday, on the case brought to test the constitutionality of the mortgage deduction law. The law which gives debtors the right to have deducted from their total property assessments, one half of their .bonafide mortgage indebtedness, but the total of such deductions not to exceed S6OO in amount. The circuit court of Marion county had declared the law unconstitutional and invalid. This decision was appealed from, and Attorney General Taylor, who believes the law is right and just, prosecuted the appeal. The decision sustains the law in every particular. Two of the Supreme Judges dissented from the decision.
