Calls for City .-Convention r - ** The Republican voters-for the city-of Rensselaer, Indiana, will meet ia Mass convention at the Opera House, on Wednesday March 26th, 1902 at 7:30 p. m. for the purpose of nominating candidates to be voted for atJ|he city election to be held f 19Q2 r for thp following offices; City Mayor, City Clerk, City Treasurer, and City Marshal. The Republican voters of Rensselaer will meet in ward mass con ventions at the Court House on Friday March 28, 1902, at 7:30 p. m. to nominate candidates to be voted for at the city election to be held May 6th, 1902, for the following offices, viz, Two counoilmen for the First Ward, two councilman for the Second Ward, two counoilmen for the Third Ward. The places of meeting in the various wards will be as follows: Ward One at the Ladies’ waiting room, Ward Two at the Sheriff’s office, Ward Three in the County Assessor’s office. Senator Tillman, the ribald ruffian from South Carolina, made a personal attack on his colleague, Senator McLaurin, in the Senate, last Saturday, striking him in the face. McLauren returned the blow, getting in one on Tillman’s rum-blossom nose - McLauren had declared one of Till man's statements a deliberate lie, which no doubt it was. Tillman and McLauren will both be punished by the Senate. Tillman nought to be expelled, but probably the Senate will not take that action.
