The Worhing of the Game Laws.

“Game Commissioner Sweeney in a report says that 1,000 convictions, of game law violators have been obtained by efforts in Indiana. He and his deputy wardens were greatly assisted by the true sportsmen, he said.” Well, th© only game law convictions secured in this county, that we now recall, were the “soaking” of a number of citizens for still having the seines which the state had previously licensed them to own. Those prosecutions, we look upon as little better than legal robberies, but as for Commissioner Sweeney himself, we acquit him of any interest in them, farther than a dis? interested desire to protect the fish and game of the state. And furthermore we believe the present game law, on the whole, is a good one, and is doing a great deal of good in protecting fish and game.
