Rural Mail Carrier’s Pay Increased.
Logansport Journal: Postmaster Powell received a telegram from Congressman George W. Steele yesterday announcing that a bill had been passed whereby carriers in the rural delivery service will have their saleries raised to 1600 per year after the first pf March. This will mean an increase of SIOO a year. When the rural delivery service was started in 1899, the salary of carriers was fixed at S4OO and the carrier had to provide his own horse and wagon. Last year the salary was raised to SSOO and now it is given an increase of another SIOO.
