About the Investigation at Elwood.
Nothing further has been heard from El wood as to .the result of the investigation the ooroner was making, in the case of Bessie Ford’s suicide. The Elwood papers state plainly that her married life was unhappy, that family quarrels were frepuent and that her husband treated her with negleot. There were rumors there that her death was not at her own hands. We are satisfied, however, that there is nothing in that rumor, and that the worst that can be shown is that her act may have been causedHby her husband’s treatment. Bessie worked in The Republican office for quite a long time, as a compos itor, just prior to her going to Elwood, and in her conversation with the other young ladies in Jthe office she several times, daring her melancholly moods, plainly expressed the idea that the thought of suicide was eveu then of frequent ooourence in her mind.
