Aged Minister Drops Dead.

Rev. George W. Stafford dropped dead at his home in Crawfordsville, Monday, in his 87th year. He was the oldest surviving Methodist minister in Northwest Indiana conference, and was licensed 4 to preaoh in Virginia in 1886. He used to preaoh here as a circuit rider, about 60 years ago, and the coming conference, which meets here in September, would have been the 60th anniversary of his appointment to this oharge. He expected to attend the conference here, had he lived. He waa ohaplain of the 40tb Indiana regiment during the war, and marched with Sherman to the sea. He signed the first temperanoe pledge ever presented in America.
