AN ACCOUNT FROM ELWOOD.

The following account of Besaie Foster suicide appeared in today’s Indianapolis Journal, as a special dispatch from El wood: Elwood, Ind,, Jan. 30.—Apparently piqued because her husband refused to accompany her or allow her to attend a ball last night, Mrs. Bessie Ford, wife of Luke Ford, killed herself by sending a bullet from a heavy revolver through her br«in. She died in a few minutes. The tragedy occured at the Ford home a short time after 9 o’clook. The Fords had arranged to attend a ball last night, and in the evening the wife entertained a few of her friends. Her parents'also were at the house. • When Ford returned from work he informed his'wife that he was not going to the dance nor would he allow her to go. Without a word the woman left her guests and went into a bed room, where she dressed for bed. The report of the pistol was the first intimation the members of the family had that anything was wrong. When they- entered the room the young wife was breathing her last. The bullet had entered her right eye, coming out just back of the left ear, penetrating the brain. The coroner’s inquest returned a verdict of suicide. Mr. and Mrs. Ford had been married only six months, having eloped to Benton Harbor, Mich., last summer, the marriage being bitterly opposed by the girl’s people.
