Rochester Wants To Be Clean.
The town council of Rochester is wrestling with the spitting nuisance. A committee of women headed by Miss Jennie Robbins appeared before the board and asked for an ordinance prohibiting spitting in public buildings or on sidewalks under penalty of a |5 fine. Miss Robbins supplied a list of cities having such ordinances and the town clerk was directed to correspond and obtain information on which to construct an ordinance. Rensselaer also needs such an ordinance, badly enough, heaven knows.
