.Death of Gus Wartena.
Gus Wartena, whose supposed fatal injury from* fall was mentioned in our Friday’s items, died about 2 o’clock Sunday morning, at the Western hospital, ChicagoHe received his injury Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 15th, at Chicago Heights, while working as a linesman for the Bell TelephoneCompany. He fell from the top of the pole and shattered both legs from the knees down, and fractured his skull at the base of the brain. He was taken to the hospital and was conscious until 11 o’clock that evening. He then became unconscious and never revived from that condition, Gus was brought up mostly in Rensselaer and was a very estimable and industrious man and a very capable and efficient worker in his vocation. He was about 28 years old and married, but bad no children. His wife wasMiss Emma Robinson, also bohr and raised in Rensselaer, and a daughter of W. D. Robinson. She has numerous relatives here. The funeral will be held at Hammond, Wednesday.
