THE DISTRICT CONVENTION
T. J. McCoy Re-elected District Chairmao By Acclamation. The 10th district congressional convention, to elect a district chairman, and member of the state ■ committee for the ensuing campaign, met at Hammond, Wednesday as per «call. Chairman T. J McCoy, of Rensselaer, called the convention to order, and organization was effected by electing. Frank L. Grubb, of the Lafayette Courier permanent chairman, and Charles Robb of the Michigan City News permanent secretary. T. J. McCoy was renominated as district chairman by Geo. P. Haywood, of Lafayette, and seconded by Poetm aster Peck: of Remington. Joseph Sleeper, of Benton Co,, withdrew from the race, and made a neat speech in favor of McCoy. The latter was then unanimously elected. This is the third successive time Mt. McCoy has been elected to this honorable and important position and our citizens can well be proud to have their townsman so highly honored. But the honor is well deserved as McCoy has proved one of the most zealous and efficient district and state committeemen in the state. The congressional nominating convention will be held at Monticello on February 19th. Jasper county will be entitled to 10 delegates. Messrs. Reser and Haywood, of Lafayette, Judge Tuthill, of Michigan City, Senator Goodwine, of Williamsport, all made short TwC resolutions were adoptedOne endorses Congressman Crumpacker’s bill for a national monument at Battle Ground, The other recites the fact that the 10th district has several worthy candidates for state offices and recommends that the delegates from the district support them earnestly and pereeveringly at the state convention.
