Remington Men Make Big Investment.

Several Remington parties have just closed up a deal whereby they have acquired the controling interests in a huge rice plantation on the coast of Texas. It is 5,000 acres in extent, has the necessary warehouse, with a capacity for 15,000 sacks of rice, a 100 feet wide canal for flooding, a railroad running through it, and all other improvements and appurtenances. The purchase price is SIOO,OOO and of this Remington parties, invest $52,775, the remainder of the stock being taken by Illinois parties. The largest Remington-stockhold-ers are O. P. Taber, F. R. Curtis, C. T. Dye, and Nason Coulthirst and several other parties are also interested. The draft for $52,775 was issued by Robert Parker’s Remington bank, and we presume it is the largest single draft ever issued by a Jasper county bank. Mr. Curtis has been interested in Texas rice fields for several years and has satisfied himself that there is lots of money in the business and it is confidently believed that this large purchase will be a mine of wealth for the Remington investors. Mr. Taber is the general manager of the company.
