The Clifton Divorce Case.
A sad tale, if trne, of long-oon-tinned cruelty and unfaithfulness of a very inhuman kind, is that told by Mrs. Maggie Clifton in her suit for divorce from Samuel G. Clifton, filed last Tuesday. They were married May 6tb, 1887, and finally separated Nov. 13th, 1901. She states that for three years he has been constantly and persistently cruel, has struck and beat her, threatened to kiok her ont of the house, called ber the most opprobrious names and accused her of unebastity. That at times he would beat and abuse their little children just to agonize her. Also that he would spend much of his time with a lewd widow at Fair Oaks, would boast to bis wife of his visits there and exhibit to her this woman’s photograph. Also that he spent muoh of his time with a similar obaraoter near Gifford. They have four children, of whom she asks the custody.
