Halligan Case Decided.
The jnry in the Halligan cattle case, tried at Monticello, reached a verdict Monday night. They brought in a verdict in favor of P. H. Halligan against the Sanson Commission Company of Chicago, for $6,000, and against 8. A. Dowell, of Rensselaer, for SI,OOO. The other defendants, Burns, Brown, E. Halstead, Murray Bros., G. W. Tanner and Bert Brasket, of this county, and Thayer of Chioogo and Lewis of Indianapolis, all went dear of liability ■, Mr. Halligan sued for about $12,000. The verdict in his favor is said to be practically worthless, as the Sanson Company has been out of business for a year, and judgments against them are considered not collectible. A new trial will be asked for by Halligan’s attorneys.
