Almost a Centenarian.

Mrs. Margaret Burroughs, who has resided in Hammond for the past nineteen years and who was prior to that time a resident of Rensselaer, returned to Hammond recently from a year’s stay with her daughter, Mrs. Lillie Spencer, at Hillside, Wis. Mrs. Burroughs is now 74 years of age and aside from a slight defect in her hearing is enjoying the very best of health, Her mother, “Grandma” Shprtridge, was 97 years of age October 20th. She resides at Hillside, with her granddaughter, and is also in splendid health. Her memory of all oocurences during her entire life is perfectly vivid and she talks of old times and of the affairs of the present period with the interest and accuracy of a person in the very prime of life. She is the mother of Rev. Lemuel Shortridge, of very pleasant memory in this county.
