LOST HEAVILY ON HORSES.
Suicide loans Said to Have squandered *40,000 on the Race*. The coffers of the race track are said to have been enriched over $40,000 by the betting operations of Stuart R. Young,
the defaulting City Treasurer of Louisville, Ky„ whose tragic suicide followed quickly upon the publication of his shortage. Young's shortage to the city is in excess of $55,000. Had the publication of Young’s shortage
been delayed twenty-four hours it might never have been generally known. When Lawrence Young, his brother, who reached the city from Chicago, learned of the suicide he was already on his way to Louisville, having been summoned to attend a meeting of Young’s friends, who were to raise money to make good the shortage. Young's beautiful wife was prostrated by the exposure and the tragic taking off of her husband without even a farewell message.
