The City Schools.

It has been decided that the Rensselaer public schools will now have a two week’s vacation instead of one week as the schedule provided, It was left to the teachers to decide, and eight voted for two weeks’ and seven for one week’s vacation. The schools will therefore close Friday of this week not to re-open again until Monday, Jan. 6th, 1902. The March vacation will be taken, as arranged, and to make up for the additional week at the holidays, the school will be continued one week longer or during the first week in June. The new heating arrangements have proved inadequate in two or three rooms in the new building, during this cold weather, and the 6th and 7th rooms were dismissed most of this week, and the 2nd primary part of the time. More radiators will be placed in these rooms during the vacation. The pressure valve at the power house also has proved defective, and some changes were made in it Wednesday night.
