Original Counsel Appeara in Behalf of the Prisoner. Patrolman Wilbur S. Sherwell, charged with the murders of Lena Renner and Georgia Railey at Evansville, Ind., had
h i s preliminary trial before Justice Bben C. Poole, and was bound over to the Circuit Court without bail. At the last minute Shevwell’s old counsel, Funkhouser & Funkhouser, appeared /or the defendant. They explained that they did this because of the two mysterious telegrams that had been sent relatives of Sherwell in Ohio
for the npparent motive of keeping aid from the prisoner. The State only introduced a few of the Important witnesses. The defense offered no evidence.
