Military Post For French Lick.

An effort is being made to have a military post established somewhere near Louisville, New Albany or Jeffersonville. A committee from Louisville was in Washington the other day- to urge the advantages of Louisville as a location. To the Louisville committee Secretary Root displayed the greatest familiarity with the territory of Southern Indiana, and finally explained that he obtained this information while he was attorney of the .Monon. At one time he remarked: “Now, if you will get us a large tract of land in the neighborhood of French Lick Springs the Government will give it the gravest consideration, and possibly acoept it without inspection.” This seemed a little remarkable and, when pressed for an explantion, Said: “My recollection is that those who drink that water oannot drink whisky at the same time. It would be no mistake to have such water in an army.”
