Newland. Dave Guthrie is very sick with a bad case of tonsilitis L'. B. Hewitt has been confined to his bed for a few days’ with' bowel trouble. Mrs. Stevens, of Hercher, 111., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Harry Gifford, this week. Wm, Hickman, who has been conductor of the C. & W. V. has resigned his and has been succeeded by Albert Strebelon, formerly fireman. Harry Gifford, who has been foreman here for the past nine years has resigned and will farm next year. It has not been decided who will take his place. Herman and Owen Callahan were in Rensselaer Saturday on business. Miss Mabel Castor is on the sick list with catarrahal trouble. Mrs. Wm. Shellhart has been very siok. with either heart and stomach trouble this week. Drs. Stewart of Monon and Hackney of Medaryville attended her. She is i little better . at this writing. John Butris will have a Blue Rook match;;at Lewiston on Friday Deo. 13. Come and have a good time.
