The Soldiers’ Tombstones.
Tbe government headstones recently notedas having arrived for some of the unmarked soldiers’ graves in this vicinity, have been set np in Weston cemetery, or such of them as are for soldiers buried there. They are composed of beautiful white marble, and are three feet high, about 12 inches wide and four inohes thiok. These, like all head stones furnished by the government, are set in the ground without any foundation stones, but oan easily be kept striaght, by an oooasional tamping. N Twelve stones were received in this first shipment All. are for soldiers in Weston cemetery, except three, namely. Joseph C. Pillars, of Company Gr, 9th Indiana regiment, in the Crockett cemetery. James P. Beal, Co. A. 87th Indiana regiment, at Welsh cemetery, Jordan Tp. Alva Yeoman, 57th Indiana, at Makeever or Sayler, oemetery, Newton Tp. ’ Those for soldiers buried here and already set up are as follows. Wm. L. Richeson, Co. B. 128th, Ind. James Watt, A, 48th Ind. One stone was for Allen Clark, but his friends have since it was ordered, set up a stone, and this will be re-lettered for some other soldier.
