THANKSGIVING DAY GAME.
Bennett Medics Get Beaten 18 to 0 By Our Champions. Rensselaer defeated the Bennett Medical. College at foot ball Thursday’ by clean, hard work, and in two twenty minutes halves scored 3 touch downs and kicked 3 goals. The aggressive work of the Rensselaer team was never before so good, and while it was all right on defense at critioal peroids it showed the effect of having no team lined against it in practice. Bennett had a good team weighing about as heavy as Rensselaer and being well drilled in signals, interference, defense and aggression. But they were not the equal of the Rensselaer team from any point of view and their defeat marks the relative difference of the teams in all around foot ball. To pick the stars in yesterday’s contest would be difficult, although Sayler and Moon probably loomed up a little in advance of the remainder of the team. Woodworth was himself and played hard and effectively. Hardy played the best game he ever played and was always equal to the occasion. Leopold pounded big holes through his opposing taokle and Cain at guard was superior to his oppenent. Parcells, Gwin and Yeoman each came in for a touch down and each assisted the other in every gain. Wright, at center, played against a man 14 pounds his beat in weight but the big man was a back number by the end of the first half .and played pokey ball the remainder of the game. Rhoades never made a fumble, played speedy, persistent, nervy ball and was one of the chief instruments in the gratifying result. In the start of the game Rensselaer kioked off and Bennett was stopped with very little gain. The visitors started a series of mass plays that Rensselaer found difficult to solve and they had moved the ball forty yards down the field before they were held for downs. Their doom was sounded however, when they forfeited the ball and Rensselaer began its steady, sure line-bucking plays and planted the ball behind the line without an error. The ball was then kioked ofF by Bennett and when time was called Rensselaer had advanoed it to the opponents 10 yard line and every team member was smaoking his lips at the goal posts, but the call of time prevented another touch down in the first half. Bennett tried some baby playing in the second half, endeavoring to kiok the ball out of bounds in order to foroe Rensselaer to kiok off to them. Moon and Sayler surmised their plan and Moon got the ball just as it was about to bounoe out of the side line and the three Medics who tried to stop him learned a lesson in bounoing baok that will make them muscle sore for a week. Then Rensselaer went in for big results and scored two more touch downs and kioked two more goals and were wading after the third, well into the Medios territory, when the whistle blew for the end of the game. Had the halfs each been 25 minutes the soore would have been 80 to 0. As it was it was 18 to 0 and a well satisfied lot of foot ball players and spectators.
