A Saloon Applicant Arrested.
Charles Danford, the would-be saloonist of the third ward, bnt mercifully knocked out by a remonstrance, gave a sad exemplification of his, unfitness to handle liquor, Sunday evening. He got drunk and went home and raised such a disturbance in his family, with threats to kill his wife and family, that the neighbors heard it, and gathered at the place in great numbers. ; Danford was arrested by Marshal Simpson, and Squire Troxell held him on surety of the peace proceedings, sending the case to Squire Burnham, who will try it Tuesday. Very likely a complaint for disorderly conduct will also be lodged against him. The surety-of-the-peace affidavit was sworn out by Danford’s wife, Mrs. Leona Danford. What Danford needs is not a license to keep a saloon, but a course of treatment for the liquor habit and then a firm resolution on his own part to brace up and earn an honest living for himself, wife and children, by the sweat of his brow. -
