From Rev. Dr. Utter.

Editor Republican:— A few words anent my own self may not be unacceptable to my Rensselaer friends. The first thing I wish to say, is, that my better self, Mrs. U., after a long seige of sickness, about three months, is slowly recovering. When Conference met Sep. 12, I deoljned an appointment as pastor, an act which the circumstances of the times seemed to require; afterwards, a month later, at the earnest solicitation of the presiding elder, I accepted a charge here, outside but near the city limits. Moved to the city nearly three weeks ago. The local habitation we occupy may be found at 309 LaPorte ave., where, if our friends will be kind enough to oome this way. we shall be happy to greet them. Some twenty years ago, while pastor of the Grace ohuroh congregation, I became quite familiar with South Bend; bnt how wonderfully the oity has changed since then! Doubt whether in all Hoosierdom there is another city that has grown, or is now growing, more rapidly. R. D. Utter. South Bend, Nov. 27,1901.
