To Spend $35,000,000.

Expenditures to be made by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company for new equipment for the year 1902 will break all records and will probably never again be approached by any railroad company in the world. If present plans are carried out the company will give orders for new equipment which will require an expenditure of $25,000,000. In addition to this the Baltimore and Ohio Company, which is now owned by the Pennsylvania interests, will expend between $6,000,000 and $10,000,000 for the same purpose. Considering the two companies as one in financial interest, the total expenditure for equipment for the year will be between $30,000,000 and $35,000,000, a sum unprecedented and hitherto unheard of in the railway world in connection with the new eqipment for a single year.
