Harry Gifford was at the Hub Saturday on business. Dr. Dunfee and Thurman Smith went to Winamac Thursday on business. Glenn Baker, of Valma called on Newland friends Sunday. Several of the railroad boys were called to Rensselaer on the Blake vs Tinder trial last Thursday. While chopping wood last Thursday James Russell had the misfortune to cut his foot very badly. Dr. Hackney was called and it was thought he would not live, but at this writing is getting along nicely. John Kimble, of Gifford, went to Chicago Friday on business. Thurman Smith is selling out his farming tools and household goods and contemplates moving to Oregon. Mr, and Mrs. Frank Archer are rejoicing over the arrival of a new son. Sam Clifton is hunting and trapping on the Kankakee river. Several of the Newland people attended church at Valma Sunday night.
