Land Active Out East.
Good farms east of town still command a ready sale at big prices. There were quite a string of important sales out there that were dosed up Wednesday. B. O. Gardner, of Harvey, 111., sold his 160 acre farm, three miles east of town, to George Barrett, of Eureka, 111., son-in-law of L. H. Myers of Rensselaer. The price was S6O per acre. Mr. Gardner paid $49 per acre for it about a year ago. C. A. Dean negotiated this sale. Another deal, or rather two more followed and resulted from the one above mentioned. Mr. Gardner bought of Hollingsworth & Hopkins the 105 aore farm on the Pleasant Ridge gravel road, now occupied by W. R. Dennis, paying $55 per aore, He also bought of J. V. Parkison his remaining 40 aores, adjoining the above farm, for $55 per acre. These purohases, together with the 240 aores Mr. Gardner’s father bought of Mr. Parkison, a few months ago, gives tUe Gardners 385 acres practically in one body. B. O. Gardner will extensively improve his newly purchased farms, in the way of extensive tiling and building a good new residence. Mr. Dennis will work the farm another year.
