What "Walkerite” is Beefing About-
A certain sore-headed individual at Kniman has an article in the Wheatfield Telephone signed “Walkerite” in which he claims that the Kniman foot ball boys were badly treated by the Newspapers of Rensselaer and feel greatly hurt thereby. Our “Walkerite” however, does not state any of the particulera wherein the newspapers here were unkind to the Kniman boys, nor quote any of the objectionable language. But there is a very good reason for his failure to do so, because there was no suoh language to quote. The newspapers here treated the Kniman boys with perfect fairness and kindness, and they themselves have no fault to find. This “Walkerite” as previously stated, is a ‘ sorehead.” He was a candidate for nomination on the Republican county ticket and failing to get it he is generally believed to have tried to "beef” the man who beat him in the convention. The true animus of this Walkerite is plainly revealed in his letter, in this sentence:
“It is the same in politics and everything else with which the north end is connected, our favors and support are repaid with ridicule and insult.” What Walkerite wants is to make the people of the “north end” hostile towards the people of the south and central parts, so that they will stand by him solidly next time he eeeks a nomination, and in case he again fails to get it, to follow his lead in “knifing” the man who does get it.
