ITEMS HERE AND THERE.
Another death from diphtheria, that of a 10 year old boy, occured in the Frank Walker family, near Valparaiso, Tuesday, making three in all. Four others in the family are sick but will probably recover. An officer of a fraternal accident society at Star City illustrates the prompt methods of his society by the following statement: “One of the members lately fell from the top of a five-story building, and a check was handed him from the second-story window on his way down.” B. S. Fendig, the poultry and junk dealer, is just finishing up the shipment of the wrought-iron portion of his mountain range of old iron. It makes ten car loads'; but takes less than half of his entire heap. If he had shipped all his iron at one time it would have made a pretty good train load.
The Fisher brothers are building another big feed barn to connect with their present one, on Harrison street. The new building will front on Van Rensselaer street, and will include a blacksmith shop and a sitting room for women and children to stay in while their teams are being hitched up or unhitched eto. The new building is to be 30 by 150 feet.
Earnest Fritz will enter into business in Hartford City. He goes there permantly and Dunkirk loses one of its most prominent young men and Hartford may be proud of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz as residents of Hartford City. They will go into business in Mr. Tyner’s Block and will handle a line of household goods. Mr. Fritz is a son of Rev. Fritz of this place and is possessed of a noble character and sterling qualities.—Dunkirk Star.
