A Matinee In Justice’s Court.
From Saturday’s Daily. According to announcement in the Monticello papers the reason the Royal Stock Company would reach that town yesterday on a later train than expected, was because their business here was so "splendid” that they stayed to give a matinee. The “matinee” took place this morning, In Squire Burnham’s court, when the Squire entered up judgement against the company and May Smith Robbins for $23.25 and costs, for board bill at the Nowels House. The performance was continued at the de- \ pot by a specialty tongue danoe by Miss Robbins for the ‘-benefit” of Constable Viok, now head manager of the company, beoause he took charge of and hauled away from the depot their baggage, which is attached for the above judgement. In the meantime while the performance is a good deal of a comedy to outsiders it is a soul-harrowing tradegy to the performers, and will be more soleharrowing still if they have to get out of town on their uppers, as now seems likely.
