Newland Claims the New R. D. Route

Newland, Ind. Nov. 7, 1901. Editor Republican: I notioe in your issue of Nov. sth, that we are to have a new rural route established to start at Blaokford and then to Gifford and Newland, a distanoe of some 20 miles which Postmaster Hurley is working up. We think you have been misinformed as to the route, as this rqpte is to start at "Newland” not Blaokford and is already a possibility and we have our carrier hired and which is to start Deo. 1, 1901, with Mr. Hardesty as oarrier. We doubt very much if Mr. Hurley ever knew anything about this route till he received the adv’s. to be posted in his office for a oarrier. The oarrier will leave Newland at 12 M. thence to Gifford 4 miles, thenoe to Blaokford 6.75 miles. Leaves Blaokford at 3:30 p. m., arrives Newland at 6:30 p. m. Yours Truly,

T. M. CALLAHAN, P. M.
