Independent Telephone Managers Meet at Hebron.
A meeting cf the independent telephone managers of Lake* Porter and Jasper counties was held a 1! Hebron Wednesday to discuss ways and means of bettering their service and withstanding the encroachments of the Bell Telephone company. Those present were Abram Halleck, of DeMotte, Oscar Dinwiddie, .o t Orchard Grove, Clifford Hill, of Lowell, and Robert Ross, of Eagle Creek township, Porter county. These men represent and control all the independent lines in this seotion and they decided to support each other for mutual benefit and protection against the trust r Messrs. Ross and Halleck, it was decided, will ask the Hebron council to grant them a franchise and they will then put in a local exchange in opposition to the Porter County Telephone company, who recently purchased the Hebron lines. Mr. Halleok says he also expects to put in an exchange in Valparaiso.
