CHICAGO E.M.C. DEFEATED.
* Rensselaer Scores 22 Points and Holds the Visitors to a I. Rensselaer has again defeated a Chicago foot ball team, and by its iron defense prevented the opponents from crossing its goal line. The team to draw a rimless vacuum was the Chicago Eclectic Medical College, while Rensselaer stacked up a total of 22 points. The report of the game in detail would be of a little interest, as the successive gains made by Rensselaer were secured by the old ground gaining stars, Sayler, Gwin, Parcels and Woodworth, either through the tackles or by quick short plunges around the ends. Rensselaer was not held for downs a single time and never lost the ball except by fumbles, which were „ too frequent, although fortunately never expensive. The game was a beauty from the side line standpoint. Quarterback Rboades and the backs made an interference that always opened the way for gains. Tackles Moon and Leopold, although pitted against good players of years experience perforated the visitor’s line upon call, and did good defensive work throughout. Wright at center, supported by Harmon and Cain, held admirably and assisted in the result. Woodworth, oaptain of the team, played part of the game at end and is in old time form for that position. Bruce Hardy and Ord Yeoman, who also exchanged end positions, played good foot ball, demonstrating their ability to tackle the roan with the ball, even when the interference was not well broken.
The Eclectics are composed partly of the Bennett Medics, who played so strong a game here last year and who are slated for the Thanksgiving game again this year. They state that they expect to bring a winning team here on that occasion.
