Rensselaer is’fortunate in being able to secure such a noted man as Eli Perkins [Melville D. Landon] for an entertainment. He appears at the Ellis opera house next Monday evening Nov. 11th. We are able to present to our readers a good likeness of him. The advancer sale of seats which. opened this morning at 9 o’clock already indicates that the people of Rensselaer know a good thing when they see it, and are preparing to give Eli such a home as his fame warrants. His subject will be “The Philosophy of Wit and Humor,” He illustrates with examples from all of the rioted humorists and his entertainment is rich and spicy as well as highly instructive.
