Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 34, Number 18, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 1 November 1901 — The Old Porter Farm Sold. [ARTICLE]

The Old Porter Farm Sold.

And still another land sale of general interest has just been closed up of land east of town. R. B. Porter, our county recorder, has sold his old home farm to Charles E. Waling, of near Mt. Ayr. There are about 223 acres in the farm sold, but 66 acres of it belonged to Mr. Porter’s brother-in-law, C. P. Mayhew, of Red Bluffs, Cal. - The price is SSO per acre which, though not as high as much land has sold for lately is considered a fair price, as the improvements on the farm are very old, and some of the land not of the best. This farx is the old Porter homestead has been in the family 51 years, and some of the land was deeded directly from the government to Mr. Porter’s father, Asa C. Porter. Mr. Waling will occupy the farm after March Ist.
