A New Date For Meteor Shower.
The great tri-centennial meteor display was due in November 1899, according to numerous astronomical prophets. It failed to connect however, at that time, and then some other astronomers figured out that a mistake had been made in the calculation and that November 1900 was the true sohedule time of the meteorio train. That prediction went wrong also, and now a writer in tin Scientific American gives lengthy and certainly quite logical reasons why both 1899 and 1900 were wrong dates, and that in November ot this present year the meteors will get here sure, and no side-traok-ing for anything less important than a double headed comet, carrying all the officials of the Celestial R. R. on a tour of inspection. Nov. 15th is the date given for the meteors to arrive, which will be a favorable time as the moon will then be well over its present full and disposed to rest quiet and not interfere with the meteors in their brief starring engagement.
Licked Them Good and Fed Them Better. The Lafayette Stars foot ball team left Thursday morning on the milk train for Rensselaer to engage in a game of ball with the Athletes of that place. The Lafayette boys all played very hard and a steady game from start to finish aod although they were outclassed in playing and weight they have got no complaints, as they were royally entertained by the players and people and'whenever they can do Rensselaer a good turn or give a good word forihem they will do it willingly. It was one of the cleanest games ever played on a foot ball field and all the boys appreciate it. Although the score was 11 to 0 in favor of Rensselaer, the decisions by Fendig were as fair as ever given —Lafayette Sunday Times.
