The Biggest Load of Oats.
The Hartley Grain Company’s new elevator at Goodland was opened last Monday with a big celebration. Among the features was the destribution of SIOO in prizes for largest loads, longest hauls etc. The elevator is 80x84 feet, 86 feet high and will hold 300,000 bushels of grain. It cost $26,000. The load which took the first prize for biggest load of oats was hauled in by Bert Slatersand John Wood,of Benton county. It consisted of 408 bushels, and weighed 13,080 pounds, or over 6 j tons. It was hauled by one team and in a special box made for the occasion. It is believed to be the heaviest load of grain ever hauled to market by one team.
