Arrested For Dynamiting.

Wm. Johnson and Mr. Carlson, two Gifford tenants from near Laura, were arrested at DeMotte, Saturday evening by game wardens for dynamiting fish. They took Joe Devereau to DeMotte. in the morning and he went to Kankakee to settle with Mr. Gifford, and they spent the day on the Kankakee river, and while there secured several hundred pounds of fish by dynamiting. When they returned to DeMotte, they were arrested as stated. Monday they had their hearing at Crown Point. The lowest penalty 'for dynamiting is $250 fine and 30 days in jail. Dynamiting is a heinous offense but it is some extenuation in this case that the arrested men have good reputations as honest, sober, and hardworking men. Jt is also stated that they were steered around and led on, at the river, by an old denizen, who then gave them away to the wardens.
