Robbers Threaten the Monon.
The officials of the Monon and the American Express Company, which operates over the Monon, are patiently waiting for a band of train robbers. They have been waiting for several days, and think that if the robbers are going to do anything they ought to get at it or quit the gatne. One day last week the officers of the express company received word that an attempt would be made to hold up a Monon train between Lafayette and Crawfordsville. The railroad company was notified, and it at once placed a number of deteotives all heavily armed on all the trains of that division The express company took three men from Indianapolis and three from Chicago and put them in the cars with the regular messengers and the train men have been notified to keep a sharp lookout along the line. No attempt has yet beqn made, and the officers are beginning to think that the robbers have been frightened away or else it was a false alarm. The train and express men however, will keep up their vigilance until they are certain all danger is over.
