Colombia Wins First Race.

The first of the series of five yacht races for the America cup was sailed Saturday. After a most exciting, marvelously even contest the Columbia beat the Shamrock, coming in only 37 seconds ahead on a3O mile race. The Columbia’s time allowance of 43 seconds is to be added to this, making the actual winning time one minute and 20 seconds. Much of the time the Shamrock was in the lead. The boats are very evenly matched, and the final result depends much on what the weather happens to be when the other races are sailed The second of these will take place today, Tuesday.
