Had Not Met For Fifty Years.

Henry Amsler, who, lately became a resident of our town, and a large owner of real-estate in the vicinity, now has visiting him his brother, Jacob Amsler, of Eureka, Homboldt Co., California. A very interesting fact connected with the visit is that they had not met before for over 50 years. Jacob Amsler went to California in the spring of 1851 and this year is the first time any of his family have seen him since. And for over 35 years none of them had heard from him. In fact he was long ago supposed to be dead, and his father’s estate was settled up and distributed with that supposition. After a week or two longer stay here he will depart for his California home, going by the way of Spokane, Washington, where he will visit his youngest brother whom he has not yet seen. Mr Amsler is a prosperous stock raiser and dealer in California.
