Action on the Proposed Factory.

The Commercial Club at their meeting Thursday evening, gave extended consideration to the proposal from Chicago parties to locate a large factory in Rensselaer, as heretofore mentioned. The proposition has heretofore been described. The factory will locate here for $15,000 and not less than two acres of land. It will employ to 75 men the first 9 months, 100 by the end of a year and 150 thereafter. They will put up a building 150 by 200 feet. The title to grounds, building and machinery to remain in the Rensselaer representatives for 5 years, as a guarantee of good faith. A number of excellent recommendations of the firm were read, from wholesale hardware and lumber firms and others. A committee of three Commercial Club * members was appointed to go to Chicago to investigate the factory, in that city.. They are A. Leopold, C. D. Nowels and F. A Ross. They will make their visit next Tuesday. The raising of $15,000 will be a big undertaking here, but possibly a 'plan that has succeeded in many other places might be adopted here. Namely the purchase of 15 or 20 acres of land, laying it off into lots, and each contributor to the factory fund to have es many lots as he contributes, say SIOO.
