John Doe and Richard Rce. They went,, into Goff’s restaurant, refused to pay for what they got and also evinced a disposition to clean out the plaoe. Squire Burnham gave them each $9.15, fine and costs, and they went tn jail. One of the men, whose right name is said to be Merrell is from Gifford, and he was bailed out Sunday by Harry Gifford. The other man is from Boone county, and will probably serve out his fine in jail. During the rains which began Saturday evening there was a total precipitation of just an inch. This with the rain of three days before makes a total of inches during the week and that is considerable rain. The farmers however say they can use all of it in their business, all right. It is needed for pastures and for fall wheat and rye and for plowing. More water for stock had also got to be quite a desideratum in many parts of the county, and this rain will help out considerable in that particular. The danger of frost is, of course, always present after a rain, at this time of the year, but the danger in this case now seems safely past.
