Theodore Roosevelt took the oath of President at Buffalo Saturday afternoon. At night he issued his first proclamation, notifying the people of the death of President McKinley and appointing Thursday, Sept. 19th, as.a day of prayer and mourning. President Roosevelt announced he would carry out his predecessor's policy and requested the present Cabinet to remain in office. All the members consented. The body of the late President McKinley will be interred at Canton, 0., on Thursday. It was taken to Washington Monday morning and will lie in State at the Capitol until Wednesday evening, when the funeral train will carry it to Canton. An autopsy was held on the body of the dead executive and the cause of death later given as gangrene, or mortification of the tissue. The surgeons discovered that all the tissue in the course taken by the ballet was dead. This has given rise to the theory that the bullets fired by the assassin were poisoned, but the theory can only be confirmed by analysis of the bullets remaining in the revolver.
