A Great Snap for the Boozers
The Rose Lawn boozers are missing no opportunity now days to load up for more trouble. Very recently a Rensselaer man was in one of the joints there when the proprietor had occasion to go to the telephone office. He appointed a temporary presiding officer, otherwise barkeeper, and went out. The temporary man craned his neck until the proprietor was well out of sight, and then with a general and generous sweep of the hand that, took in everybody, he said: “Come boys, take something” and they all “took something,” at the absent proprietor’s expense. That was a snap that was worth waiting all day for, if need be. Samuel Duvall’s Big Trip. S. O. Duvall got back here Friday evening from six weeks’ pleasure trip in the west; and it was the journey of his life and a trip that anyone might envy. He left Chicago July Bth, with one of the Epworth League parties, on the Santa Fee road. Took in Kansas City, Topeka, and on the way to California, visited the Grand Canon of the Colorado, in Arizona. the greatest natural wonder on earth, he thinks, after Yellowstone Park. He spent several days at Los Angelos and vicinity, including a visit to the Catalina Islands, Seven days in and around San Francisco. Made short stays at Portland, Ore., and Tacoma, Wash. Then went into the Yellowstone Park, by way of Livingston, Mont-, and was among the unparalled wonders of the Park for 6 days. On his return he visited Denver, Colo., and then Pueblo, where he has several relatives, including his sister-in-law, the widow of Daniel Duvall, a former Rensselaer resident. He was at Pueblo 9 days.
