Not Much in That Monte Carlo Story.
W. H. Blodgett, the reliable writer and reporter for the Indianapolis News, has spent a day at the notftrious“monte-carlo,” in the north end of Lake county and makes light of it for a gambling place and Indianapolis and Terre Haute eaoh have gambling places that discount it. He found nothing but pool selling. No wheel of fortune, no faro bank, no craps, or “old Hi,” and in fact it was a tame place as compared with other open pool selling places in Indiana. His long article in Monday’s News states facts, which he went on purpose to get and al the way through he ridicules the manner in which the recent circulars painted the “hell-hole,” and says it is only a fight between two factions of race pool sellers.
