Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 22, Number 94, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 13 August 1901 — Straw and Oats Burned. [ARTICLE]
Straw and Oats Burned.
Friday forenoon at Felix Parker’s place, near McCoysburg, during the high wind then prevailing, a spark from a threshing machine engine set fire to a load cf unthreshed oats, on a wagon. From the wagon the fire communicated also to a stack of straw from the grain already threshed. The load of oats end the wagon they were on were burned as also the stack of straw, both representing considerable value in these days of high prices of oats and great scarcity of hay and other winter feed. The wagon which was a good one, belonged to Chauncy Foster. The threshing machine came near going, but was saved by quick work.
