Another Attempted Holdup

Late last evening as two young fellows, Boyd, and Rice Porter, were going to a surprise party on McCoy Avenue, Boyd was attack ed by three other young fellows, when in front of E. L. Hollingsworth’s residence. Some other young men, going to the same party, were some distance ahead. Rice ran to call them, but they thought he Was joking and would not come. In the mean time Bruce Hardy came along, also bound for the same party, and the three who were struggling with Boyd jujnped over the fence and ran out of sight. however, before they had securely tied his feet together with a piece of rope, and had tried to tie handkerchiefs over his face. One of these Boyd says was saturated with some substance. This they tried tcThbld to his mouth but he jerked it away. Boyd is confident he knows all three of the boys who attacked him. He thinks they intended to go through his pockets but is not sure but they only intended give him a bad scare. In any case it was a very bad piece of business for them to engage in.
