Gillam’s New M. E. Church.
Gillam township, now as always, has more good square-toed Methodism, if not to the square mile at least to the square people, than any other community in Jasper county; and its third Methodist church has just been completed. It is located at Gillam store and post-office, and is a very neat and substantial building, large enough for all purposes, and cost about $1,600. It will be dedicated on Sunday Aug. 18th, by Rev. Samuel Beck, D. D., the presiding elder. Services will be held at 10 a. m. and 2:30 p. m. It is intended to have an all day’s “basket meeting” and there is a fine grove right at the church in which people can eat their dinners and visit with acquaintances. Rev. O. L. Chivington, of Barkley circuit, will have this new church also, in his list of appointments. A general invitation is extended to everybody, to fill their baskets and come to the dedication services.
