All Bids Rejected.

The trustees of Iroquois Lodge, Odd Fellows opened the bids for their proposed new business building, Saturday afternoon. The bids were all so much higher than was expected, that after full consideration, it was decided to reject all bids. No definite decision was arrived at as to what will be done, but in view of the present very high prices of all kinds of building material, it is more than likely that the erection of the building will be deferred until next spring; excepting perhaps the putting in of the foundations; which work can be done much better in the fall when the ground is dry than in the spring. Only two bids were received and these both from local builders. To give some idea of the very high prices of some kinds of building material, we have reliable information that the plate glass alone for this building would cost S4OO. Also that aside from the plate glass the doors and windows would cost SSOO. Iron and steel are proportionally high, and all other material much higher than usual.
