Many Improvements Ordered.
The City Council, at their regular session, ordered River street macadamized, from Washington street to beyond Dr. Kannal’s residence. A 30 foot pike with oement curbs. Also ordered the improvement of Forest street on to Merrett and of Merritt east to thejgravel road or Yeoman street. This is a 12 foot pike with no curb. A oement walk was ordered on Milroy street from Fred Phillips’ plaoe to aocross Washington street and then along the souht sid6 of the Milroy triangle. Also a walk along the west side of Weston street, between Washington and Cornelia. More important still was adopting a reslution of making Makemself ditch a covered sewer, from the river to the railroad. The latest talk is that a 24 inch sewer pipe will be used up to Main street and an 18 inch the rest of the way. Resignations from the fire company of J. W. Burns and C. L. Thornton, reported. Burns has moved to Michigan City, and Thornton fires at the power plant. Claims amounting to about $2,000 were allowed. Of this $1,371 was interest on waterworks bonds, and $366.66, for first payment on the new dynamo.
